GOC calls on Governor, CSOs bat for scraping SoO

Newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Mountain Division, Major General SS Kartikeya along with his better-half Priya Kartikeya called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, here, on Thursday evening and held discussing on the prevailing situation in the state.
General Kartikeya also briefed the Governor about the security preparedness of the Indian army units to face any eventuality in the state at any time and thanked the Governor for awarding citations on the eve of Republic Day to three army units presently deployed in Manipur.
Representatives of Iramdam Kanba Lup, United Committee Pukhao GP, Makeng Dolaithabi GP and Village Protection Force also called on the Governor and submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah through the Governor urging for abrogation of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement signed with Kuki militant groups operating in the state.
A six-member delegation of the Organising Committee for North East India Film Festival-2024, led by Art and Culture commissioner M Joy, also called on the Governor and requested her to attend the inaugural ceremony of the festival on March 3, which the Governor accepted.
The delegation also informed the Governor that the upcoming festival is being organised for the first time in the cinema history of Manipur with eight films including six from Assam, one each from Manipur and Meghalaya scheduled to screening in the festival.
The Governor also discussed about the issues faced by the Manipuri cinema fraternity in the state and assured of extending support from the Raj Bhavan.
The delegation discussed the possibilities of opening of Censorship Branch Office in the state with the Governor, as well.
