Farmers training prog held

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Directorate of Agriculture organised farmers' training cum interaction programme on the topic 'High income crops for the small growers' at the farmers training hall of the Directorate near Sanjenthong here on Tuesday.
The training programme was attended by Central Agricultural University professor L Nabachandra, Sairam College of Agriculture professor Dr Ak Chingkhei, Directorate of Agriculture deputy director Th Joyprakash, Ak Chittaranjan Singh and N Nilamani as experts.
According to Th Joyprakash, the training programme is aimed at making the farmers aware that despite possessing small land one could cultivate crops which will yield high profit.
As economy of the farmers has been seriously affected by the conflict that broke out on May 3, several training programmes on the theme 'Rebuilding economy through agricultural activities' were held at Pukhao, Khurkhul, Saiton and Sugnu, he recalled.
Around 120 farmers from Imphal East, West, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching attended the training programme.
