Four militants, two OGWs arrested

Imphal, April 13 2015 : A combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and 2/5 GR arrested one active UNLF cadre while conducting a search operation at Toubul village on April 9 .

The arrested UNLF cadre has been identified as Konjengbam Hemba Singh alias Angamba alias Inaoba (40) S/o (L) K Tombi Singh of Moirang Konjengbam Maning Leikai and staying at present at Toubul Awang Leikai, according to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept.

A case has been registered at Bishnupur PS and investigation is going on.

At the same time, based on a reliable input about the presence of some antisocial elements in and around Khurai Lamlong Bazar, a team of Imphal East district police commando conducted search operation and arrested one active cadre of UNLF on April 10 .

The arrested cadre has been identified as Moirangthem Sanathoi Meetei (37) S/o (L) M Gulamchat Meetei of Taretkhul Maning Leikai, the statement said.

Investigation revealed that he had demanded a huge amount of money from private transport agencies, Government offices and contractors, etc.

A case has been registered at Porompat PS and investigation is going on, it said.

In an unrelated incident, on April 10, based on a reliable input about the presence of some antisocial elements in and around Hatta to commit prejudicial activities, a team of Imphal East district police commando conducted frisking and checking and arrested two active members of PREPAK (Pro).

The two cadres have been identified as Md Abujar Khan alias Abjar (22) S/o (L) Md Abubakar Khan of Moreh Ward No 5 staying at present at Top Khongnangkhong and Md Wahidur Rahaman alias Alam (21) S/o Md.Nashir of Sora Maning Leikai.

Investigation revealed that they had extorted a huge amount of money from public for raising party fund and also recruited many youths to PREPAK (Pro) outfit, it said.

A case has been registered at Porompat PS and investigation is going on.

Again on April 12, based on a reliable information, about the presence of antisocial elements, a team of Imphal East district police commando rushed to Kiyamgei Maning Leikai and arrested one OGW of PLA/RPF, namely, Khuraijam Meethoiba Meetei S/o (L) Kh Kulla Meetei of Kiyamgei Maning Leikai from his residence.

On follow up action, another OGW of PLA/RPF, namely, Thongam Ipi Singh (57) S/o (L) Th Babudhon Singh of Thongju Part-I, Pheijaleitong was also arrested from his residence, it said.
