Imphal, January 11 2018: Terming the news report published under the caption "Khoripopk village gets transformer" on January 6 as misleading, Lungtoram Village Authority has demanded apology and rejoinder from Assam Rifles within January 20 failing which the matter will be dealt with Tangkhul customary laws and necessary actions shall be taken up.

The village authority, in a press release alleged that Assam Rifles under the banner "Friends of Hill People" has undermined the hard work of Khoripok villagers who took active participation in installing a 63 KV transformer in the village.

It said that the villagers held a meeting on the day Assam Rifles came to take group photos that were sent to the local media without their knowledge.

Such nefarious acts would prove costly for AR and the villagers if not corrected, the release said.

The village authority expressed gratitude to Power Minister Th Biswajit and local MLA K Leishiyo for providing the transformer for electrification of the village.
