Imphal, May 18 2024: The Koireng-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) shot on the leg a transgender person as punishment for his alleged operation as an escort agent in soliciting young women for high profile individuals for cash.

The transgender person has been identified as Kumarjit Laishram (32) son of Sarat of Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai, Imphal West district.

He was produced before media in a place in Bishnupur district on Friday night, prior to giving the punishment.

Later, Kumarjit was shot at his leg and left near Khumbong PHC under Patsoi police station, Imphal West on Saturday morning.

Interacting with media on Friday, Pibarel Angomcha, a spokesperson of the Koireng-led UNLF, said that the outfit has been working towards bringing an ideal society with utmost respect for women apart from its revolutionary movement.

However, trading women for some mere cash is unfortunate and UNLF takes such matters seriously.

Kumarjit was picked up by the front for his operation as an escort agent and he will be given befitting punishment for his crime, he said.

Kumarjit also accepted his crime in front of media.
