Govt to detect defaulting teachers

Official teams headed by the Director, Education (S) would be going on surprise visits to Government schools to identify teachers who have not been attending their schools without giving any reason.
The new initiative is aimed at improving school education in Manipur and inspection of Government schools would start from the current month, informed an official source.
Two teams would be inspecting Government schools in each district and each team is comprised of SSA, RMSA, Mid-Day Meal and district officials.
The teams would monitor whether teachers have been attending their respective schools and how they have been teaching students.
They would interact with students in order to collect comprehensive reports.
The teams would also gather reports about infrastructure.
As for absentee teachers, the Government has decided to take up befitting action against them.
Meanwhile, the Government has taken up necessary measures to provide desks and benches to schools where there is shortage of these furniture items.
Due procedures have also been initiated to provide adequate materials for science laboratories.
Taking due note of the rich dividends reaped from counselling students and teachers by psychologists and psychiatrists last year, the departments has decided to arrange similar counselling sessions this year too, added the source.
Teachers' absenteeism is rampant in Government schools.
