Imphal, November 06 2023: Imphal East district commandos recovered arms and ammunition from near a crematorium at Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai under Heingang police station Imphal East today morning.

The arms and ammunition were found buried.

The recovered arms and ammunition include one SMG Carbine with 3 empty Magazines, one 36 hand grenade with ring, one tube launcher, 16 INSAS LMG Magazines, four INSAS Rifle gas cylinder capes, seven 7.62 SLR ammunition charger clips, 63 number of 9 mm Revolver ammunition, three empty ammunition carrier boxes and six anti-riot shells.

The search was conducted following reliable inputs about the presence of arms and ammunition at Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai, said sources.

During the operation, the commandos searched 70 houses of Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai and verified the residents.

No one was detained.

The recovered arms and ammunition have been handed over to Heingang police station for necessary action, said sources.

In another operation, security forces recovered seven Kg explosive iron pellets, five grams of gun powder, six GI pipes, one bullet-proof jacket, 2 pumpi bomb shells and three two wheeler vehicles from T Yangnom village in Tengnoupal district, said Manipur Police Control Room.
