Imphal, August 12 2025: Apokpa Marup is set to observe the 13 8th birth anniversary of Laininghal Naoriya Phulo (Phundrei) on August 14 and 15 at its office at Luxmi Keithel.

Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, Dr Laishram Achanba, convenor of the Organising Committee formed by Apokpa Marup, said that a poetry and a quiz competition based on 19 books written by Phundre will be organised as part of the anniversary.

He also said that similar programmes will also be held in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Assam and Tripura.

He said that Apokpa Marup was founded by Phundrei in 1930 .

Bom in Lasihramkhul Mayai Leikai, Jharibon, Assam, Naoriya Phulo started a movement to promote Meitei's religion, culture, tradition, language, and script, he said and urged everyone to attend his upcoming birth anniversary celebrations.

In light of the August 15 general strike, Dr Achanba appealed to all parties involved to permit movement for attendees of Naoriya Phulo's birth anniversary celebrations.
