May Day observed in State

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur and BJP Manipur Pradesh observed May Day at GM Hall and Nityaipat Chuthek respectively yesterday.
Speaking as one of the presidium members at the GM Hall observance, AITUC Manipur president Dr M Nara said May Day or Workers' Day is a global event that provides common platform to the working class section of the society for renewed deliberation on their basic rights and oppose exploitation by the affluent class.
Mere observance of May Day would be meaningless if the working class people continue to suffer subjugation, said the CPI leader who is in the fray for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Prevailing upon the working class people to remain united in their fight for equality in the society, he said until and unless those at the helm of affairs do not work for the betterment of underprivileged section no society will be able to achieve overall development.
Besides AITUC Manipur office bearers and members, representatives of All Manipur Nupi Marup, All Manipur Bank Employees' Association, All India Youth Federation Manipur, All Manipur Road Transport Motor Workers' Union, All Manipur Agriculture Workers' Union, All Manipur show Owners and Establishment Employees' Union, All Manipur Mutia Workers' Union, Working Women's forum, All Manipur Anganwadi Workers and Helpers' Union, All Manipur ASHA Workers' union, All Manipur Rickshaw drivers and Pullers' Welfare Union, All Manipur Newspapers sales and Distribution Association, Government department officials and functionaries of political organisations also attended the event.
At Nityaipat Chuthek, BJP State unit president Th Chaoba deliberated on the essence and objectives of May Day observance.
