In connection with its ban on Mithamana and tobacco products, the proscribed outfit RPF/PLA seized a large quantity of Mithamana during a special drive launched at Kanglatongbi area today.
The seized Mithamana estimated to worth Rs 10,000 was later destroyed by setting them on fire in the presence of the people.
Earlier talking mediapersons somewhere in valley area prior to setting on fire the seizure, a spokesperson of the department of communication and publicity of the outfit informed that the Mithamana consignment brought from Dimapur in three cartons was intercepted from a DI Tata (registration no.MN01W-0076) during a special drive launched at Kanglatongbi following a special tip off at around 10 am today.

The Mithamana consignment was seized while trying to keep in a PCO.
However, the owner of the consignment identified as Sudha Lama alias Kumari (28) of Leimakhong Bazar Board and the DI Tata in which the consignment was being smuggled managed to escape.
Afterward, the accused Sudha Lama send one Ngangbam Kameshore (41) s/o late Kopochand of Kanto who runs a Pan Dukan at Sekmai Bazar to get the consignment on the promise of sharing the profits.
Kameshore was picked up by the outfit and during the course of interrogation, found out that he is one of the business partners of Sudha Lama.
For defying the ban, the Pan Dukan runs by Kameshore at Sekmai Bazar would be closed down for six months and the accused Sudha Lama and the DI Tata should surrendered to the outfit within five days from today, the spokesperson declared.
Warning serious action if they fail to surrender within five days, the spokesperson informed that Kameshore would be handed over to his family members after giving proper advice.
