TRUGPU thrash TRAU to lift 58th CC Tourney cup

Imphal, January 14 2015:
Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players' Union (TRUGPU), Nambol thrashed Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) 3-1 to become the champion of the 58th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament (CC Meet), 2014 in a thrilling final encounter at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on Wednesday.
The final match of the tournament organized by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) was inaugurated by Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, CM Ibobi observed that the CC Meet which commenced from 1950 has helped produce skilled footballers from the State and acknowledged the tremendous contribution made by the tournament over the years.
The CM maintained that the CC Meet continues to be a big platform for players selected from football tournaments held at district and sub-divisional level.
Youth Affairs & Sports Department has also been helping impart skills to young sportspersons to nurture them for achieving further heights.
All the players should put in good efforts to make the State of Manipur the powerhouse of sports of the country, Ibobi said.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwar handed over a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with the running trophy to the winning team while the runners up team received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with the trophy.
The Men's Footballer of the Year Award for this season was given to Kh Satish of NEROCA by Tokeshwari Elangbam representing Hueiyen Lanpao Group of Publications.
Tokeshwari Elangbam is the daughter of late E Ibohal who had spent most parts of his life in developing and nurturing the game of football in the State.
He was also a renowned international referee.
The award instituted in memory of E Ibohal carries a cash reward of Rs 15000 along with a trophy presented by AMFA.
The cash amount of the award was donated by Hueiyen Lanpao Group of Publications.
Whereas the women's Footballer of the Year Award for this year was conferred to O Bembem of Manipur Police.
The Fair Trophy Award of 58th CC Meet was fetched by ZFC Churachandpur while Y Suraj of TRUGPU was honored with the Best Goalkeeper Award.
Best Player Trophy Award; Top Scorer Award; Man of the Final Match Award; Coach of the Year Award; Best Defender Trophy Award; Best Midfielder Award; Best Referee Award; Best Striker Award and Young Player of the tournament were received by Kh Jacky; Th Kiran of Manipur Police; Y Inao of TRUGPU; T Ibomcha; A Herojit of TRAU; L Bikram of TRAU; Y Rabichandra; L Sanatomba of TRUGPU and Ch Anandkumar respectively.
