MU Inter College Football : United College hammer Oriental College 8-0

United College powered past Oriental College 8-0 to set up next round clash with Mayai Lambi College in the ongoing A Pratap Singh Memorial Manipur University Inter College Football Tournament for Men being hosted by YK College, Wangjing at Kodompokpi ground under the aegis of MU Sports Committee.
The day also saw Liberal College, Standard College and DM College of Science post similar 1-0 wins against their respective rivals.
The 10th match of the tournament witnessed ST Ningphahman and Koboson RM produce fine scoring performances to ensure United College win 8-0 against Oriental College and set up next round clash with Mayai Lambi College on August 30.Star of the day, ST Ningphahman opened up the scoring early in the 7th minute of the match and Koboson RM doubled the team's advantage the very next minute giving no respite to the poor Oriental College team.
ST Ningphahman continued to lead the attack up front and banged in his second and the team's third in the 11th minute before completing his treble ten minutes latter.
Koboson RM also made his mark striking another in the 24th minute of the match and help United College ease into the break with a comfortable 5-0 lead.
United picked up the game from where they left after the restart and it was ST Ningphahman again who send his shot curling into the net and earned his fourth and the last goal giving his team an unassailable 6-0 lead.
The onslaught continued as Oriental College never looked in contest and it were Tongsing Bungring (52') and Morningson (55') who slotted home a goal each to help United College complete the 8-0 rout of Oriental College.
In the 11th fixture of the tournament, Standard College earned a 1-0 win against Imphal College thanks to K Bobosana's strike in the 18th minute.
Kh Hemba who was yellow carded earlier in the 14th minute was expelled during the stoppage time receiving the second yellow thereby reducing Standard College to a 10-men although they managed the win.
L Ominikumar of the same college also got the yellow card in the 20th minute.
S Rohit, M Bikramjit and Malemnganba of the losing side were also yellow carded respectively in the 7th, 55th and the 78th minutes as the game grew tense in the later portion.
In yet another similar match, Liberal College beat NB College 1-0 to set up next round date with YK College on August 31 at 8 am .
The lone of the match that help Liberal College earn the victory was scored early in the 5th minute by L Sangkar before his team mate Lamjingba was sent off the field in the 50th minute by the referee with the second yellow card.
Meanwhile in the last match of the day, DM College of Science and Lilong Haoreibi College played out a competitive match but a goal by Jangkholen L in the 45th minute steered the former team to a 1-0 win.
DM College of Science will be meeting Standard College on August 31 at 9.30 am .
