Premila, Shanjit once again win UPF Mega Marathon

Imphal, February 17, 2013: Four times winner S Premila and three times winner Th Sanjit Luwang added yet another title making it their fifth and fourth times respectively to win the first position of the UPF's Mega Marathon Manipur by winning the 7th edition of the marathon today.

United People's Front (UPF) organised the marathon annually under the aegis of Athletic Association of Manipur.

S Premila from Yairipok Bishnunaha who won the marathon fourth times won the 7th edition of the tournament for a record fifth consecutive times in women's Open Category.

She won the mega marathon in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 editions.

The second position was won by Miss Wahida from Lilong Turen Ahanbi while Makakmayum Minarashi from Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai won the third place.

Meanwhile, Th Sanjit Luwang who won the title three times won Men's Open Category making it his fourth title.

He won the title in 2009, 2011 and 2012 editions.

UPF's Mega Marathon Manipur

Md Abid Ahamad from Lilong Leihaokhong won the second place while the third place was won by Pache Kiamniungan.

The Marathon was flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam today morning from Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

The event was participated by around 1000 athletes from Manipur and outside.

Education Minister, Moirangthem Okendro, President of Athletic Association of Manipur (AAM) L Ajit and President of UPF Manipur, BM Yaima Shah graced the prize distribution function as dias members.

The Mega Marathon was held under the theme Run for Your Nation, Run the Mega Marathon.

Winners of each group were awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000.First Runners Up for both category were awarded Rs 20,000 while second runners ups were awarded Rs 15,000 each.
