Sanjit, Premila retain Mega Marathon Manipur titles

Th Sanjit Luwang and S premila Devi respectively retained the men's and women's titles of the Mega Marathon Manipur organised by United Peoples' Front under the aegis of Athletic Association of Manipur (AAM).
In the seventh edition of the half-marathon race held today, Sanjit Luwang of Yairipok stopped the clock in 1 hour, four minutes and 49 seconds while Premila completed the course in 1 hr, 24 mins and 14 secs for her fifth successive crown.
The competition participated by around 2000 long distance runners, including over 500 female competitors, also had participants from Nagaland, Assam and Karnataka States.
In men's section, Md Abid Ahmed (1hr, 5mins, 19 secs) of Lilong Leihaokhong secured the second position followed by Pache Khiamniungan of 164 Infantry Bn TA (Nagaland), L Ranjan Singh of Sunu Siphai and M Samananda Meitei in third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Among women competitors, Wahida (1hr, 27mins, 9secs) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Makakmayum Minarashi of Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai, LD Neitinghoi Chiru of Nungsai Chiru (Bishnupur district) and W Chanuleima Chanu of Lamdeng Makha Leikai occupied second to fifth positions.
While Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam flagged off the race from Khuman Lampak sports Complex, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro graced the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest.
UPF president BM Yaima Shah and AAM president L Ajit also attended the closing ceremony as the guests of honour.
The top three position winners in both the men's and women's categories were presented Rs 30,000; Rs 20,000; and Rs 15,000 each, while consolation prize of Rs 2000 each were awarded to the fourth to 15th place finishers.
