SSU, singjamei and MPSC joined NEROCA in the semi finals of the 50th CC Meet football tournament after convincing victories in their respective quarter final league group matches at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
While SSU emerged runaway victors at 9-2 against NESU, Khurai in a Group P tie, MPSC's 2-0 win over Kola-ship District IX in group Q marked an early exit of the Mizoram State visitors one of three invited teams in the prestigious competition.
Faced in a must-win situation after the drawn encounter against YWC, Thambalkhong in its previous match, SSU made its intention clear and raced to an unassailable 5-0 lead by half-time in which L Tiken scored three of his five in the match.
The Singjamei side began went on the scoring spree within the opening minute through Y Priyokumar before Tiken joined in the rampage in the second minute followed by his second and third goal in the eight and 31st minute respectively.
The half time whistle came seconds after R Banny Chiru extended the SSU lead with a penalty conversion.
While Banny Chiru found the mark for the second time in the match in the 52nd Tiken virtually sealed the NESU fate with his fourth and team's sixth six minutes later as the Khurai side managed to reduce the score deficit through L Doren (64th/P) and G Singba Kabui (67th).However, the SSU side regained their comfortable advantage when Charan Rai made his presence felt with a 69th minute goal and Tiken completed the NESU demolition in the 90th minute.
Both NESU and YWC are knocked out of the competition.
YWC had defeated NESU 1-0.In the second match of the day, MPSC scored one in each half to ensure its place in the last four stage.
A Th Rohen pass to N Deshkumar saw the latter beat the Kolaship XI custodian near the half hour mark while Kh Romen snuffed out the opponent's aspiration for a comeback scoring the Police side's second in the 79th minute.
MPSC had defeated ESU 4-2 while the latter split points against the Mizoram outfit following a 1-1 draw.
