Imphal, December 18:
Setting December 24 as the deadline for announcing the reservation policy for the minority Muslim community in Manipur, All Manipur Muslims Students' Organisation (AMMSO) has decided to boycott the election campaign of all the partners of the coalition SPF Govt from the next day if the Govt fails to do so.
Addressing a press conference at its Hatta office here today, the student body made it clear that the decision to boycott the election campaign has been taken as the Govt has repeated fail to implement the assurances given for providing 10 percent reservation for the minority Muslims in Govt jobs and in admission for higher studies.
Along with the boycott of the election campaign of all the coalition partners of the SPF Govt, we may also call general strike, if necessary, AMMSO president Md Hanif Shah said.
While pointing that OBC Commission had been set up and the report for formulating the reservation policy had already been submitted and the Chief Minister had given his assurances during various rounds of meetings held, the student leader rued that the same had not been implemented till date.
