Health and Family Welfare Minister DK Korungthang has inaugurated a newly constructed office building of ADC/BDO at the border town here today.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister pointed out Moreh is an important border town not only for Manipur, but also for India and its importance is increasingly felt in the light of the Look East Policy of the Government of India.
So all the all the officials and their subordinate staff who are posted here would performed their duties sincerely, the Minister said.
Explaining the reason for not shifting the office of the ADC from Moreh to Tengnoupal, the Minister said apart from its strategic location along the International border with Myanmar, Moreh has also become an important trade centre.
Taking serious note of lack of adequate infrastructures at the Hospital at Moreh, the Minister said the process for construction of the residential quarters of the doctors which is one of the basic requirement is already underway and appealed to the contractor concerned for carrying out the task with dedication and sincerity.
While observing that development of a particular area does not meant development of the whole State, the Minister explained that a developed State is where there is equitable distribution of wealth and opportunities.
So the SPF Government has been give top priorities on development of both the hills and the valley areas at par, he added.
He also appealed to the leaders of various communities settling in Moreh for mutual co-operation and support in ushering in peace and development in the border town.
In his address as functional president, PDA Chairman K Ranjit Singh described Moreh town inhabited by people of various communities as a mirror of Manipur.
For development of the border town on international standard, detailed project reports have also been submitted to the Government of India, he added.
MLA Thangso Baite was also present during the function as guest of honour.
