Close tab on matches along with a good slice of luck has helped four students and a businessman bag mobile phone handsets as winners of the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup competition sponsored by CNN Mobile Nokia Priority Dealer in collaboration with The Sangai Express.
draw of lots to decide the winners was held today at the Governor's Road shop of the dealer in the presence of Imphal East SP Th Radheshyam, executive member of Manipur Cricket Association W Bhaktaraj, Assistant Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Ch Chaoba and The Sangai Express sports reporter M Romen as the jury members.
Out of 2550 entries for the question 'Who will be the winner of the ICC World Cup', 434 hit the bull's eye and the draw of lots favoured Hanjabam Ashwinikumar Sharma, a 17-year old student from Wangjing in Thoubal district emerging as the lucky winner.
Regarding the second question 'Which countries will play in the final match', 185 entries out of a total of 450 were ruled as eligible to figure in the draw of lots eventually resulting in Mayanglambam Allija, also a student, from Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai declared the winner.
The lone non-student who bagged the prize for the third question 'Who will be player of the tournament ?, was one Khomdram Dorendra Singh, a businessman from Heirangoithong Awang Maibam Leikai.
A total of 744 entries were received out of which 255 entries hit the bull's eye.
The mobile phone handset prize to lucky winner for 'highest wicket taker of the tournament' went to one Subhashkumar (student) of Pallel Bazar in Thoubal district.
Out of the second highest entries by 870 competitors for the question, fate of 375 were decided by the draw of lots.
Last but not the least, Huirem Raghumani Singh of Naoremthong Takhellambam Leikai was the luckiest competitor out of 99 correct entries, thereby becoming the fourth student to bag a prize in the contest.
