IN A PRESS meet organized by the Friendship Centre Manipur (FCM) at the Manipur Press Club today in presence of assistant coordinator, National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI), Rakesh Tripathi, roadside street vendors of Khwairamband decried the act of vacating street vendors from the streets of Khwairamband in pretext of tidying and construction of Imphal roads.
Roadside street vendors' association Khwairamband keithel also submitted a memorandum to NASVI and discussed the role of street vendors in society.
Rakesh Tripathi, speaking to the street vendors said that two percent of metropolitan city population is composed of street vendors and they have a prominent role in a society and should be respected.
He further mentioned that the article 19 (1) g of Indian Constitution disapproves such acts and the Supreme Court has guaranteed the right.
