Rape accused held

Imphal, February 17 2012:
Ngangom Shantikumar (26) son of Ng Rajen of Sekta Mayai Leikai, who was declared wanted in connection with the rape of a Nepali girl at Takamei village in Senapati district, has been arrested.
Ngangom Shantikumar was arrested by a combined team of Imphal East and Senapati District Police from near Muirei Bus stand along Imphal -Ukhrul Road at around 3 pm today.
After the arrest, the accused was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Senapati today and later remanded to police custody for further investigation, according to a statement issued by SP, Senapati district today.
