Makui Village Authority and Makui Thebram Village Authority, Senapati drew the attention of the State Government to provide relief and compensation to the villagers for the fire that destroyed banana and yongchak (tree beans) plantations.
Banana and yongchak plantation of 980 hectares of Makui village and 300 hactares of Makui Thebam village were completely destroyed by the wild-fire that lasted from March 15 to 17. Banana and yongchak are the main cash-crops for these two villages.
According to a press release of Makui Village Authority, banana and yongchak bring an average annual income of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 to every household.
