Imphal, July 11:
All Political Parties Forum, Ukhrul district has expressed strong resentment at the non-inclusion of even a single Minister from the eastern hill areas of Manipur comprising of Chandel and Ukhrul districts in the recent reshuffling of the SPF Ministry even though there are sufficient numbers of MLAs of the area in the SPF Ministry.
Due importance seems to have been given only to the four valley and other hill districts by not allotting not less than two Cabinet berths each, the Forum convener Ng Ramsan stated in a release.
This is the first time in the history of Manipur that such injustice has been meted out towards the people of Eastern Hill areas.
Since attainment of Statehood, successive Ministries never neglected the legitimate rights and aspiration of the people of these area and due representations has always been given in each Ministry, he rued.
Such attitude of the Government would not be conducive to the present efforts for emotional integration of all communities living in Manipur.
The feeling of neglect and alienation so created in the minds of the people of the area is regrettable, Ramsan further said.
On the other hand, Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur has expressed its gratitude and appreciation to induction of Gaikhangam as a Minister from Tamenglong district in the SPF Ministry.
