CCpur, January 18 2020:
The JAC-ODWC has issued a statement alleging that the extension work of NH-150 between K Salbung and Peace Ground, Tuibong have been stalled for over two months due to the 'high-handedness' of Forest Department, Churachandpur Division.
The JAC-ODWC said it convened a joint meeting of various Departments, including the Forest Department, to ensure their co-operation and support on the highway extension work which is imperative for the development of the district.
The subcontractor who was assigned the extension work between K Salbung and peace ground was unable to carry on his work due to the presence of trees on the roadside, which fall within the extension area.
As such on December 9, 2019, the JAC-ONDWC submitted an application to the DFO, Churachandpur to take up necessary action so that extension work is not disturbed, it added.
As the Department concerned has not provided any positive response till date, the JAC questioned how and why the Forest Department is so adamant on cutting trees that are planted within PWD highway reserve land and hindered highway extension work.
The public are facing health hazard owing to the dusty and bumpy road, JAC-ONDWC said.
