After Manipur Police Training School and Forensic Science Laboratory, Home Minister Gaikhangam today paid a visit to commando complex and lauded the performance of police commandos.
There, the Home Minister addressed a gathering of commando officers and personnel.
He stated that the efficiency and proficiency of Manipur Police particularly commandos are not less than police forces of other States.
He hailed the commandos as en elite force of the State who are engaged not only in counter insurgency operations but also in maintenance of law and order.
However, it was quite shameful when some commando personnel were found involved in crimes and scandals.
Noting that are always some black sheep in any society, Gaikhangam called upon all commando officers and personnel to make such incidents the exception rather than the rule.
He also exhorted the police personnel not to forsake the confidence reposed on them by the Government and the public.

Stating that the responsibility of policing is no cakewalk, Gaikhangam advised the police personnel to perform their duty with discipline, loyalty and spirit of sacrifice, and present themselves as a humane force.
If the commandos adhere to a little more stricter discipline, Manipur Police commandos can transform themselves as one of the best police forces in the world.
He also emphasised on the importance of training.
Later, Gaikhangam inspected the barracks, kitchens, family quarters and the DSP (Commando) office.
He observed that most of the infrastructure inside the complex are worn out and shabby.
Given such an atmosphere, one cannot help but appreciate the performance of commandos.
Informing that the Government has already put up fencing around 100 acres of land at Lamphelpat where a new commando complex would be developed, Gaikhangam appealed to the commandos to bear with the inconveniences until the complex is developed.
In the meantime, floor of the community hall located in Family Line as well as the surrounding drainage system would be renovated soon.
During his inspection tour, Gaikhangam was accompanied by Principal Secretary (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu and DGP R Baral.
