Second day of COCOMI's bandh total

The second day of the complete shutdown imposed by Coordinating Committee On Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) was also supported by the people through sit in demonstrations and alert protests organised in various parts of the State today.
Womenfolk and locals held placards with slogans like 'Naga peace talks cannot break the State into pieces', 'No land and interests of the State can be compromised' and 'GoI should know the sentiments of the people' etc during the protests.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a sit in at Sagolband Thingom Leikai, a Meira Paibi member Kshetrimayum Nungshi said that the people welcome a solution to the Naga peace talks but any solution to the long drawn issue cannot compromise the integrity or interests of Manipur in any way.
She further said that the people will fully support all the initiatives taken up by COCOMI to protect the State.
Similar sit ins were also organised at Thangmeiband, Singjamei Keithel and its surrounding areas, Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai, Thoubal Wangkhem, Thoubal Haokha, Thoubal Haokha Heibi Makhong, Khong Ahanbi, Khundongbam Leikai, Kiyam Siphai, Thoubal Kiyam Tangjeng, Lilong Usoipokpi Tharao Lok, Oinam Thingel, Mayeng Leikai, Waikhom Leikai, Naorem Leikai, Lairembi Mamang, Sofa Leirak, Kakwa Keithel, Kwakeithel Nganappi Thong etc.
On the other hand, Kakwa Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, SYC and womenfolk of Thongju Pichu Lampak and Naorem Leikai held a rally along the National Highway No 2 .
The rally, which began from Thongju Pichu Lampak, was stopped at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai by a large number of police personnel.
The womenfolk then turned back and staged a human chain protest at Kakwa bazar.
Citizens' Club of Soibam Leikai and Wangkhei Khunou also organised a meira rally at its locality today evening.
Coordinating Body Khurai in collaboration with Khurai Thoudam Leikai Meira Paibi also staged a sit in protest at Khurai Lamlong Keithel.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, one Bon Khurai questioned why the State is being militarised at an alarming rate despite the assurance given by the Chief Minister on October 20 as well as the statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday that the solution to the Naga peace accord will not be signed without consulting all the stakeholders concerned.
