Imphal, July 01, 2012:
Categorically making its stand clear, the Senapati District Consumers' Club has asserted that it is a registered people's institution and does not have any ulterior motive in its pursuit to get to the facts.
Stating that the FCS Department is trying to divert the attention of the people from the real issue by cooking up stories, the SDCC in a statement issued to the press today said that the department has failed to provide information when it (SDCC) approached them to verify the complaints of the public.
Earlier the FCS Department had maintained that rice quota of the district for the month of August and September, 2011 had lapsed due to the prolonged economic blockade.
However in a turnaround the Department is now stating that it lifted only 269.78 quintals for August and 1080 for September last year, said SDCC.
The utilisation certificate issued by the same department also varies in figures with the latest claim given by the department, it said.
SDCC questioned where the consignments have gone as it never reached the public.
On non issuance of AAY and BPL cards, the SDCC said the Department cannot pass the buck to the SDOs.
