NPUI condemns

The Naga Peoples' Union Imphal (NPUI) has strongly condemned the attack on Vertigrowth Private Limited office located at Poumai Colony, Kairang Road on October 23 by armed miscreants and the subsequent demand for Rs 15 lakh in ransom the next day.
On October 23, around ten armed miscreants dressed in black allegedly intruded the office premises of Vertigrowth Private Limited at 11:30 pm and looted personal phones, wallet, cars etc while making "false allegations" against the office, said a statement jointly issued by M Ngaranmi, president NPUI and Pantijai Newmei, general secretary, NPUI.
Stating that the miscreants were intoxicated and assaulted the staff at gunpoint, NPUI added that altogether they stole one Maruti Suzuki Brezza, one Maruti Suzuki Swift, 21 personal phones, one laptop and one wallet containing driving license, residential certificate and Rs 5000 in cash.
In addition, a phone call was reportedly made to the caretaker of the office building the next day around 10.30 am demanding a ransom of Rs 15 lakh, to be paid on the same day at 3 pm.
Strongly condemning the incident, NPUI has appealed to the concerned authority of the State and respective leaders of communities to apprehend the culprits and book them at the earliest as per the law of the land.
