A public meeting organised by local Meira Paibis, clubs and Inner Line Permit System Demand Committee at Sagolband Moirang Hanuba ground on December 10 has resolved to urge all political to include enforcement of ILP system in the election manifestoes and to implement the same after elections.
A statement issued by the Inner Line Permit System Demand Committee informed that another such meeting was held on December 4 at Nagamapal Kangjabi.
Speaking on the occasion, convenor of the ILP Demand Committee Sapamcha Jadumani took serious note of the huge influx of people from outside the State after the abolition of Passport Permit System.
Birjit Ngangomba called upon the people to save the nation from being overwhelmed by outsiders even though it is a little late, conveyed the statement.
Meanwhile, another statement issued by FREINDS conveyed deep concern over the usurpation of jobs and vocations by 'outsiders' from indigenous peoples.
Observing that no verification was done on the identities and credentials of people coming from other States either by the State Government or civil organisations, it expressed serious doubt whether Manipur had become a safe haven for criminals wanted in other States of India.
It also mentioned of the arrest of some criminals belonging to other States from Manipur in the recent past.
Taking note of the possibility of indulging in criminal activities by these elements from outside the State, FREINDS asked all the house owners of Imphal to verify the identities before renting any room or house to people from other States and countries.
It also urged the house owners to demand 'crime-free certificates' from the police stations against the people coming from other States by December 31.
Saying that FREINDS would launch verification drive against all the people coming from other States and staying in rented rooms from January, it appealed to local clubs and Meira Paibis to cooperate in the drive.
