Radheshyam pushes for comparative study of schools in State

There is a need to conduct a comparative study of schools in the hills and valley so that a teaching method could be designed to resolve the issue of language barrier faced by the teachers and students specially at primary stage, observed Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam.
He made the observation at the inaugural function of a two-day Regional Consultation Workshop on Post-NAS Interventions, Undertaken the Report Card and the Pedagogy Intervention held at the multipurpose hall of Directorate of State Council of Educational Research and Training, SCERT, Lamphelpat today.
The workshop is jointly organised , by SCERT, Manipur and National Council of Educational Research and Training, NCERT, New Delhi.
Speaking as chief guest, Radheshyam appreciated the shift in focus on student learning from content to competencies as it will en- hance a student's capabilities mainly in terms of communication and innovation.
He said that students should be motivated to think to become innovative.
He appealed to the participants to make classrooms innovative and research oriented so that the young minds could be trained to think through motivations and guidance.
Prof Hrushikesh Senapaty, Director of NCERT said that there has been a paradigm shift in teaching-learning process that aims at developing skills of children in problem solving, creativity, critical thinking and communication.
He explained that post-NAS Interventions is an accurate assessment of the learning outcomes at different stages of education that can provide important insights on whether the inputs put into the elementary education system proves fruitful or not.
NAS 2017 will help in facilitating evidence based planning for ensuring quality in education, said Prof Indrani Bhaduri, Head, Educational survey Division and National Coordinator, NAS.
The survey has been conducted in 703 district of the country and its Union Territories covering 2.2 million children from 1,20,000 schools.
The inaugural function of the workshop was also attended by delegates from all the North East States, New Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, officials of SSA and SCERT, Manipur.
