Mass rally, function mark Malaria Day observance

As part of the Malaria Day observance, a mass rally was held today at Khoyathong area.
The rally was jointly organised by Diocesan Social Service Society, Imphal, a partner of CARITAS India, Voluntary Health Association of India and State Vector Borne Disease Control Programme.
The rally was flagged off by Thangmeiband AC MLA Joykishan from NCC ground.
It converged at the starting point after touching Khoyathong Crossing, JNMDA and DMC campus.
Around 300 members including nursing students, NCC cadets, and MSM participated in the rally, according to a statement.
A signature campaign was also held as part of the programme.
Later the valedictory function of the programme was held with Col MS Sorut, Dy Commander, Imphal NCC Group Headquarters as the chief guest.
The programme was also attended by Rev Father Dominic Kanmi, Director, DSSS as the president.
At the same time, the World Malaria Day observance was held today under the aegis of District Health Society, Thoubal and National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) with a function at NHM Hall, Thoubal Wangmataba.
The programme organised with the theme 'Invest in the future, defeat Malaria,' was attended by CMO Thoubal Dr N Jayentakumar Singh, Thoubal DAIDS Officer Dr Thanpa Serto, District Malaria Officer Dr KC Luwang and DPM, DHS Rishikesh Sharma as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
