Hit and run case at North AOC: Villagers peeved at Govt's indifferent attitude

Peeved at the alleged negligence of the Govt in fulfilling the demands for payment of ex-gratia to the next of kin of MA Nganaongai, who was killed when a beacon light attached vehicle knocked him down at North AOC on Dec 18, student leaders and Church leaders of New Tusom Village in Ukhrul district have threatened to launch stir to further press their demands to the Govt.Church leaders and student leaders of New Tusom village, where the deceased hailed, had submitted a memorandum to the Govt through circle MLA on January 3.But the Govt allegedly turned a deaf ear to the demands till date.
The village leaders were demanding payment of ex-gratia, job to the next of kin, booking of the driver and owner of the vehicle involved in the hit and run case and punishment to the policeman on duty at the northern gate of Kangla on the day the incident took place for giving protection to the vehicle and its occupants.
MA Nganaongai of New Tasom, Head Master of Frontier High School and Deacon member of the Church was knocked down by a speeding vehicle with VIP beacon at North AOC, near City Inn Hotel Imphal on Dec 18, 2012.He succumbed the following day.
FIR was lodged at Imphal West Police station vide No 598(12)2012IPS,U/S 279,338 IPC.Add.304 A-IPC.
After a round of meeting today with Headman of New Tusom village, the village leaders threatened to launch intense form of stir in their demands for justice on the hit and run case that involved a VIP.
