KVK Hengbung, KVK, Ukhrul organize tree plantation drive

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hengbung organized tree plantation and Krishak Gosthi at KVK Campus Hengbung yesterday.
John Sha, MFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Senapati and Dr N Jyotsna Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Hengbung graced the occasion as chief guest and functional president respectively.
Fruit bearing saplings were planted at KVK Campus in the presence of the participating farmers to encourage and motivate them to plant trees around their localities.
The DFO spoke on the importance of planting trees to save our environment and help mitigate effects of climate changes.
About 1023 fruits bearing saplings were planted while other agri-inputs were also distributed to all the participating farmers during the event.
Ukhrul: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ukhrul and Kisan Gosti in association with Lower Hungpung Youth Organisation (LYYO) under Swatacchha Hi Seva organized tree plantation at Hungpung village, Ukhrul.
On the occasion, senior scientist Dr Y Ramakrishna, Head KVK Ukhrul dwelt on the objective of tree plantation drive by the department while Dr Solei Luiram urged the local youths who participated in the tree plantation programme to preserve the tree species.
On the other hand, the youth of Lower Hungpung Youth Organization (LYYO) in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Manipur Centre held training on food processing for the youth at Hungpung village yesterday.
During the programme, resource person DAO, Ukhrul Vareichon Raikhan spoke in detail on sustainable farming system and further enlightened on KVK inputs and technical support on food processing.
The programme was attended by Elizabeth Luiram, Manipur State vice-president BJP Mahila Morcha, Shanngam Shaliwo (IFS), Division Forest officer, Ukhrul, Yirmeila Zimik.
