Imphal, September 18 2019:
The Zeliangrong United Front has warned the group of individuals, who had defected from ZUF, to surrender immediately for indulging in smuggling of arms and ammunition to make money allegedly with Indian Security Forces, further demanding them to immediately bring back all the arms of Zeliangrong property before the situation goes out of hand.
A press release issued by home secretary, ZUF, stated that a huge amount of arms and ammunition were recovered at Thanagong village last month and again on September 12 at three different locations including Lubanglong village, Khoupum and Nungnang (Luangrang) village.
It stated that the arms and ammunition included one 9mm pistol with 2000 ammo and two AK rifles with 500 rounds of ammo.
These incidents are evidence of repeated trading of arms in alleged understanding with the Indian Security Forces in exchange of money and vested interest by the defected group led by S Kamson (Sinthuingam), claimed ZUF.
It asserted that the properties earned through hard work by the Zeliangrong people to protect the land, resources and its people, have been sold out by some selfish and power-hungry leaders and added that the people of Zeliangrong and its kin tribes have suffered enough because of the gang led by S Kamson.
The ZUF investigation team has identified those individuals who were involved in taking the mediator role of helping the defected group, it said while warning them to surrender within seven days.
It also threatened that the individuals will bear the sole responsibility of any unwanted incident if they fail to comply with the direction of the ZUF.
On the other hand, ZUF appealed all to know those people who are working genuinely for the greater good and not to give shelter to those who are against the interest of the people.
On the other hand, the chairman of ZUF, in a statement, said that an enquiry committee, constituted by the Central Executive Council (CEC) of ZUF Government on August 27, to conduct a thorough probe into the allegations raised by its military wing regarding the unauthorised lending of arms and ammunition, imparting arms training with an intention to raise gang members and subsequent missing/sale of huge arms and ammunition along with indulging in other anti-party activities.
The probe was taken against three persons namely Jianchui Kamei, Aihong Remroi and Nickson Thoitak alias Arei, it said and added that after receiving and examining the report of the probe, the Govt of ZUF has found the allegations to be true.
It said that, under Article 10 of the constitution of Zeliangrong United Front, the persons have been dismissed from the Govt of Zeliangrong for their misdeed with immediate effect.
