Speaker impersonator remanded

The Court rejected the bail application filed by the counsel of Khwairakpam Robin who impersonated the Speaker of the State Assembly and remanded him to Judicial custody till October 23, today .
Khwairakpam Robin is the general secretary of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, Manipur Pradesh,
He was produced before the Court, after three days police custody remand, by a team of Cyber Crime police station, with a prayer for Judicial custody remand till October 23 .
On the other hand, the counsel of Kh Robin, filed a bail application prayer, to release him on bail .
After hearing the submission of the APP of the State and the defense counsel of the accused, the Court passed an order stating that the offence of impersonating is a serious one and is not to be taken lightly even though the punishment prescribed may not be high .
The order further mentioned that the accused, being a social worker with BJP, is in a position where he may use his influence to hamper investigation with material evidences and witnesses .
The Court rejected the bail application filed by the accused through his counsel mentioning that investigation so far has revealed that the accused may have committed the alleged offence and remanded him to Judicial custody till October 23 .
Khwairakpam Robin (35) s/o Kh Sanajaoba of Awang Sekmai Makha Leikai, and general secretary of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha Manipur Pradesh, was arrested by a team of Cyber Crime police on October 6, at around 3.30 pm, after a case was registered at Cyber Crime police .
It was reported that on September 22, at around 12 pm, (CID) SP, Sarda Laishram, received a phone call from an unknown number.
The individual on the phone, who identified himself as Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Y Khemchand, threatened and asked her why her team went to arrest Khwairakpam Robin of Awang Sekmai .
The unknown caller further warned that the case against Robin be immediately closed and warned her not to pursue him (Kh Robin) and the case any further .
The matter was enquired by OC, Cyber Crime police station and after investigation, it was found that the mobile number used for making the call belonged to one Heigrujam Premkumar of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi .
On preliminary interrogation, Premkumar revealed that the mobile number was used by the accused, Khwairakpam Robin and accordingly Robin was arrested on October 6 .
