SFs arrest nine UG activists

Imphal, July 04 2012: Imphal West commandos have arrested six KCP-MC (Maoist) cadres from different areas of the district in the past 48 hours.

The cadres have been identified as Shanoujam Sunil Mangang alias Sanatomba (28) s/o late Chaoba of Kokchai Mamang Leikai, Mayang Imphal, Md Amir Khan (26) s/o Md Jan of Thoubal Manjing Wangmataba, Heikrujam Manaocha Khuman (29 ) s/o Yubi of Seijang Mayai Leikai, Ngangom Ongbi Mutum Shakhenbi Devi (27 ) ( arrested from Yurembam) w/o late Ng Naoba alias Khelen of Napetpalli, Meisnam Momocha alias Bungo Meitei (25) (arrested from Changangei) s/o M Sajou Meitei of Takhel Mamang Leikai and Laitongjam Dinesh Meitei alias Peto (41) (arrested from Changangei) s/o L Kehso Meitei of Takhel Mamang Leikai.

Ngangom Shakhenbi is the self styled finance commander of the outfit, said a press release issued by Imphal West SP .

One kg of IED material contained in blue colour polythene plastic and two numbers of detonators wrapped in newspaper were seized from the possession of Sh Sunil Mangang alias Sanatomba.

Further, Special Intelligence Unit, Imphal West detected 75 kgs of Actiman tablets containing Pseudoephedrine and Methaqualone (A listed Psychotropic substances under NDPS Act) from Imphal Airport parking area.

A case has been registered at Singjamei Police Station.

In another incident, a combined team of lmphal East police commandos and 23 Assam Rifles under the supervision of M Rajen Singh, Addl SP (Ops), Imphal East arrested one UPRA cadre namely, Ayekpam Sanahal alias Johnson (23) s/o late Kumar of Pukhao Naharup Makha Leikai from Pukhao Naharup Makha Leikai on July 3.On verification, he disclosed that he joined UPRA organization in the month of May 2012 through one Roshan alias Rocky of Naharup Terapur.

Further on the same day, two more UPRA cadres namely, Naorem Roshan alias Rocky Singh (20) s/o N lnaocha Singh of Pukhao Terapur and Toijam Devdutta alias lnao (21) s/o T Banamal of Pukhao Naharup Makha Leikai were arrested from their respective houses.

On verification, Naorem Roshan disclosed that he joined UPRA organization in the month of January 2012 through one Joshua of Makokching, at present residing at Hyderabad and presently holding the rank of self styled finance secretary of UPRA.

Toijam Devdutta disclosed that he joined UPRA organization in the month of May 2012 through one Rocky.

Further, they had already extorted an amount of Rs 15,000 from Kumar of Pukhao and Rs 11,000 from the Chief of Sinam Kom Village respectively.
