IMC elections on May 25

Imphal, May 03 2011:
Elections to 27 wards of the Imphal Municipal Council would be held on May 25 and the election notification would be issued tomorrow.
Addressing a press conference this afternoon, State Election Commission Secretary Th Chitra said that elections for Imphal Municipal Council would be held from 8 am to 4 pm of May 25 .
If the necessity of re-poll arises, the same would be held on May 27 and counting would be done on May 29 .
From Imphal East, seven Councillors would be elected and another 20 Councillors would be elected from Imphal West district.
In addition, polling for election of 54 Ward Development Committee Members would be held on the same day.
For the IMC elections, Imphal East would have 66 polling stations whereas there are 175 polling stations in Imphal West.
At the rate of five polling official in each polling station, altogether 1205 polling officials would be detailed for duty for the IMC elections.
The total number of electors is 1,52,264 comprising of 77,913 males and 84,355 females.
Imphal East and Imphal West DCs would act as District Municipal Election Officers while SDO Porompat and SDO Lamphel would act as Returning Officers.
SDC Porompat, SDC Lamphel and SDC Imphal West (Central ) would act as Assistant Returning Officers.
