As part of the ongoing �Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi� campaign, a discussion session on education related issues was held at Damdei Christian College at Motbung today.
The discussion session organised jointly by Manipuri Students� Federation and Thadou Students� Association, Sadar Hills proceeded with Prof M Jitendra Singh of History Department, Manipur University as the moderator.
Taking part in the discussion as one of the resource persons, Faculty member of Political Science Department, MU Dr Dhanabir Laishram said students should try to acquire as much knowledge and information as they knowledge and information as they can during their student days.
Just to pass out from the schools and colleges without learning anything worthwhile is akin to extraction of poison from the flowers by spiders, he said, adding that from the same flower, a honey bee can extract honey and the students should be like the honey bee.
Along with understanding of syllabus of their academic career, students should also imbibe the qualities of hard work, sincerity, punctuality, discipline and sacrifice from the syllabus of their lives, he exhorted.
Assistant Professor Debananda Ningthoujam of Biochemistry Department, MU observed that the manner of learning among the students today is by rote and to get the degree certificate only and they do not think of their future.
In such a situation, there is no hope.
The future of Manipur should be moulded from within the class rooms, he said, while stressing on setting up more institutes of higher studies in Manipur.
An interactive session between the students and the resource persons was also facilitated.
