Imphal, December 15:
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Md Allauddin Khan has flatly denied the disclosure of an arrested PULF cadre that the blankets seized from their possession were brought from his residence.
"The allegation is totally unfounded and baseless and I have nothing to do with it", said Allauddin at a press meet at his office chamber today.
He asserting that it might be the handiwork of his political rivals with the ulterior motive to defame him.
Yesterday, Thoubal district commandos arrested six PULF cadres along with a Tata DI in which the cadres were transporting 20 blankets.
During the course of interrogation, one Md Habibur Rehman who was among the arrested cadres, disclosed that the blankets were brought from the residence of Minister Allauddin and they were transporting the blankets to the outfit's chief project officer, police sources disclosed.
The Minister clarified that his Kyamgei Awang Leikai residence has been under lock since a long time back as all his children have been undergoing studies outside the State while he and his wife have been putting up at the Government quarter.
Inquiring into the matter, he had come to know that one Juber (37) with two/three boys brought some blankets in a rickshaw which they unloaded on the street side near his private residence, disclosed the Minister.
Looking suspicious, Allauddin sister-in-law who stayed near his house asked the boys about their intention but Juber replied that the blankets would be taken away very soon.
Shortly afterwards, a Tata DI came and blankets were taken away in it, he said.
Allauddin informed that some commandos had also checked his granary besides searching the houses of his two brothers but nothing incriminating or illegal was found.
Maintaining that the version of Md Habibur seemed to be engineered by his political rivals to jeopardise his political career, Allauddin threatened to file defamatory suits against the newspaper establishments if they fail to clarify their misleading and defamatory news reports.
