SC dismisses leave petition

The Supreme Court of India yesterday dismissed a special leave petition filed by former Minister and present BJP MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar of Andro Assembly Constituency.
The special leave petition was filed by Th Shyamkumar against an order passed by the High Court of Manipur on October 13 in connection with two election petitions.
The special leave petition was called for hearing yesterday by a double bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra.
The Court, on perusal of the special leave petition and after hearing the counsels of the petitioner, observed that the Court was not inclined to entertain the special leave petition of Th Shyamkumar under Article 136 of the Constitution of India.
The Court then dismissed the special leave petition.
Notably two election petitions filed by Thounaojam Shyamkumar as applicant against Lourembam Sanjoy as respondent were declared devoid of merits by then Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur MV Muralidaran and the petitions were dismissed on October 13, 2023 .
