No decision yet on opening border

Lok Sabha MP RK Ranjan said today that there has been no decision to open Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh from January 6, 2021 during a discussion held at the conference hall of Meitei Council, Moreh on the topic Post COVID-19 Cross Border Trade' organised by Border Trade Chamber of Commerce, Moreh.
The discussion meet was attended by Antas Khan, MLA Lilong AC; N Noren, Chief Engineer PWD and representatives of various communities.
Representatives of different communities presented their grievances at the discussion including the loss of job of majority of daily wage earners, non-functional street lamps and hindrance caused by Assam Rifles to commuters of Indo-Myanmar road and questioned whether the duty of Police, Customs and Forest are discharged by Assam Rifles and sought attention of relevant authority on the matter.
The community leaders also urged the Government to reopen the border with observance of SOPs.
The MP assured the people of Moreh that a decision will be taken on when the border will be reopened after the meeting between officials of both the countries which will happen on January 5 at Yangon.
He also assured that the problems relating to street lights will also be forwarded to the Chief Minister and the MLA concerned.
He also urged the people of Moreh to help in tackling drug trafficking to remove the tag of Moreh as the centre of drug trafficking.
