International unit on safe blood launched in state

Launch of Manipur unit of Club 25, an international conglomerate to boost blood stock in blood banks and ensure virus-free blood transfusion, has been formally announced at a media briefing held today at Manipur Press Club.
According to Club 25 International Manipur secretary general K Karnajit Singh the organisation is spread across 60 countries with manipur formally joining the global movement after an official launch on February 22 at Hotel imphal.
citing need for maintaining blood stock sufficiency and safe blood transfusion to check spread of HIV/AIDS as two chief factors for the international medical fraternity to launch Club 25 International for the first time in 1989 in Zimbabwe, the State unit functionary informed that members of club 25 are youth in the age-group of 16-25 years.
Moreover, members of Club 25 are expected to voluntarily donate blood for atleast 25 times during their membership span, he said and exuded confidence that launch of the State unit will encourage healthy youngsters to join the noble cause of saving human lives by donating their blood.
Highlighting that with the exception of Ukhrul and Chandel district, in most districts of manipur Club 25 units have already been established and that efforts are on to include the remaining districts in the life-saving endeavour, Karnajit further said that conducting awareness and training programmes of volunteers, and organising seminars/workshops are the other important activities of Club 25 .
At present Club 25 International Manipur is operating from its temporary office located at Thangmeiband Sinam leikai, he said adding that a permanent office site would be finalised at the earliest.
