Two suspects arrested in connection with the death of Maibam Babu of Iroisemba Maning Leikai have been remanded to four more days in police custody.
H Lalboi Samte (30) of Aima village and presently staying at Langol Game village Zone-II Punsi Khul and Kshetrimayum Momocha (43) of Iroisemba Maning Leikai were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today.
They were arrested on August 19 in connection with the case by Lamphel Police.
The Investigating Officer through the Assistant Public Prosecutor submitted to the Court that a written complaint was lodged at Lamphel Police Station on August 16 stating that Maibam Babu was found unconscious at Langol Game village Zone II near Mary Kom Boxing Academy on August 15 at around 5.20 pm.
He was rushed to RIMS hospital but expired the following day even after receiving medical treatment.
The post mortem of the deceased was conducted at RIMS Morgue and as per the report received on August 16, the doctor opined that the cause of death was due to the 'intracranial hemorrhage' with fracture on skull bones resulting from hitting by a blunt object.
Babu's wife namely Maibam Purnima stated that her husband went out with Kshetrimayum Momocha in the morning of the day of the incident.
H Lalboi, who also accompanied Babu on that day was also picked up for questioning.
According to the IO, the suspects have concealed and denied to tell the truth about the incident that had happened on August 15 .
During interrogation the suspects have admitted that they had drinks together with the deceased at around 9 am at Langol Game village near Mary Kom Boxing Academy which was near to the place where Babu was found unconscious.
The IO submitted to the Court that the arrested persons are highly suspected in the crime as their statements are contradictory.
The IO prayed to the Court for further police remand of four days.
Court after hearing the submission of the IO of the case found satisfied with the prayers and thus remanded the arrested persons into police custody till August 29 .
