Imphal, August 24 2011:
Reiterating its stand, Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) has categorically stated 'our demand is nothing more or less than a full-fledged districthood and we do not invite anything more than this' .
In a statement, SHDDC president Ngamkhohao Haokip asserted that the Government of India has given appropriate directives to the Chief Minister of Manipur for inauguration of Sadar hills as a full-fledged district of Manipur as mandated by the provisions under Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Act, 1971 .
However, in utter violation of the rights of the people, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has once again orchestrated delaying tactics.
The four decades old demand for a districthood need not be delayed further on petty issues, which the Chief Minister along with his cohorts have intentionally brought forward to undo the peace and harmony of the State, Ngamkhohao alleged.
