Imphal, September 16 2013:
Vehement-ly condemning the blast at Nagamapal that claimed nine lives, the Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC) has pointed out that the occurrence of such incidents in the high security Imphal City area exposed the ruling Government's lethargy.
Urging all concerned to restrain from such activities in future, the MPTCC in a statement shared the pain and grief of the victims' families.
The incident clearly showed the failure of the present Government in all fronts, it said while wondering how law and order could be maintained in remote areas of the hill districts when armed militants have free movement in high security area like Imphal City.
As the Government fails in all fronts, the people of the State have no confidence in the Govt, it stated.
The blemish implementation of RKVY funds, crime against women and children, lack of proper road communication, failure to reach PDS items to targeted people, absence of surrender policy, non-enforcement of ground rules are the failures of the Govt as pointed out in the MPTCC statement.
Meanwhile, the MPTCC clarified that the party has no association whatever with the proposed rally of political parties other than the Congress in connection with border fencing as announced by the JD (U) .
Though the party welcomed such move, the statement said it would disassociate from the rally as no prior information or discussion was held with the JD (U) and as the party is not part of the All Political Party forum.
Since the border fencing is an international issue, the party would not hesitate to wait the response of the Centre and State Government in this regard and importantly the party would work in close association with the people, according to their wishes and pulses, it added.
Meanwhile, the United Committee Manipur (UCM), Federation of Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) and Popular Front of India also condemned the blast that claimed several lives.
