Imphal, June 11 2021:
The All Club Organisation, Association and Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM- Lup), Kangleipak has expressed serious concern over the unabated rise in the number of Covid cases and deaths due to the virus.
The ACOAM-Lup, in a press release, stated that addition of an average 700-800 Covid cases in a day points to the grim situation and the health system is under heavy stress.
Sights of traffic congestion even when curfew and restrictions are in force and detection of positive cases among curfew violators also reflects people's carelessness and lack of concern, the body said.
Noting that the State Government has been actively working towards augmenting healthcare capacities by inaugurating oxygen plants, adding new beds, ICU facilities, other requirements etc and frontline workers are rendering selfless service for safety of all, the body lamented lack of consciousness and responsibilities among the public.
If people continue to act recklessly and disobey restrictions and guidelines issued by health authorities, there will be no improvement, it said and added that such recklessness add burden to healthcare workers who are already stretched to the limit.
As such all should strictly stick to Covid appropriate behaviours and guidelines and contribute in fighting the virus.
While appealing to all concerned not to add burden to people who have been deprived of their source of income due to prolonged restriction by hiking prices of essential commodities, ACOAM-Lup also urged all to contact or approach the body without hesitation to state any kind of grievances.
ACOAM Lup, wary of the possible third wave of the pandemic, also drew the attention of the State Government to make all possible preparations to avert or lessen the impact of the third wave.
