JCILPS members assault following altercation

A man who reportedly posed hurdles to the JCILPS Student Wing's drive to identify illegal migrants was summoned and physically assaulted by members of JCILPS following which police pulled up some members of the joint committee apart from vandalising their office.
Tashi Interiors Embracing Quality manager Y Devson (36) s/o Puskar of Thangal Keithel reportedly used offensive words and posed hurdles to the student wing's drive for identification of non-local immigrants in Singjamei area on September 6 .
He was summoned to the JCILPS office at Nongmeibung to thrash out the matter this afternoon but a heated altercation broke out following which Devson was beaten blue and black.

Speaking to the media during a press meet, convenor of the women's wing of the JCILPS L Nganbi said that while members of the JCILPS were in a meeting to discuss the invitation issued by the State Government for a talk, a police team led by the Additional SP dispersed the meeting.
This led to a stand off and the police and members of the JCILPS even came to blows, she added.
Devson also came to the spot and tried to throw his weight around, alleged Nganbi and added that this infuriated the members of the JCILPS which led to a show down.
Soon, Additional SP (Traffic) came to the scene and the police team had a brief stand-off with JCILPS women wing volunteers.
In the meantime, some JCILPS Student Wing members who were allegedly involved in thrashing Devson and few women volunteers were pulled up and led away by police.
Sources said that Devson is the brother of Additional SP, Victoria Yengkhom.
