Ideal College to get new lease of life

Ideal College, the lone women's college in Imphal East district which the State Government planned to convert into a women's college of polytechnic in 2010 is likely to get a new lease of life.
At the request of Thongju AC MLA Thongam Bishwajit to revive the college located at Akampat within his constituency, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro made a spot assessment of the college today.
Together with the local MLA, Principal and staff of the college, Minister Okendro inspected the existing infrastructure of the college.
Later speaking to the accompanying reporters, Okendro said that he has realised importance of Ideal College in Imphal East district.
A joint meeting of all the MLAs of Imphal East district would be convened very soon before initiating necessary procedures to revive the college which has 170 students currently.
Moreover, Science stream would be opened in the college from the next academic session so that girl students who do not get admission in schools like GP College can study here.
Noting that the college compound was flooded very often whenever there was rainfall due to absence of proper drainage system, the Minister assured that necessary measures would be taken up soon to redress the problem.
After Ideal School, Minister Okendro and MLA Bishwajit inspected Laishram Deva High School located at Lilando Lampak within Thongju AC.
Promising that the school would be upgraded in accordance to the needs of changing time, the Minister conveyed his desire to the local people and the school authority to increase the strength of students.
