Imphal, August 29:
With the economic blockade on NH-39 being suspended from 6 am this morning, at least 107 oil tankers along with a large number of goods vehicles which had been stranded at Khatkati for nearly three weeks, reached Imphal late today.
The huge convoy, consisting of 300 plus vehicles started off from Khatkati at around 3:00 am this morning under a heavy security escort.
While the tankers arrived in a group with the security escort late tonight, the goods trucks are moving on the highway individually or in small groups, reports said.
There are no reports of any untoward incident so far.
According to sources, the vehicles which reached Imphal today are to be kept in the custody of the IRB and MR for safety for the night, and they are likely to unload at various oil pumps tomorrow.
Sources said normal distribution to the public is expected to resume from tomorrow itself, particularly in Imphal district.
The tankers which have arrived reportedly include at least 50 petrol carriers.
