Though late already, the Nursing College of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is all set to start its session within the current month.
Although the Nursing Council of India, which had already inspected the Nursing College, had advised for starting the session after seeking affiliation to either a University or a Board and getting the approval of the State Nursing Council, starting of the session has been delayed as the Manipur Nursing Council turned down from granting the No Objection Certificate on alleged ground of lacking necessary equipments and infrastructures.
An official source from RIMS disclosed that since the State Nursing Council has also given the NOC now, the first session of the Nursing College is all set to start from the current academic session.
In connection with starting the first session of the college, a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Nursing College, RIMS was held in the office chamber of RIMS Director today afternoon.
Considering the code of conduct of the by-election to the Yaiskul Assembly Constituency, the meeting decided inaugural of the Nursing College and its first session would be after the election.
Therefore on December 21, the Chief Minister would inaugurate the Nursing College and the session would start from the next day, the official source disclosed.
In fact, the current academic session of the Nursing courses at all India level commenced from August or September this year at the latest.
However, in case of the Nursing College of RIMS, the session has been delayed on account of not having adequate faculty and not receiving the no objection certificate from the State Nursing Council, the official explained.
In connection with commencing the first session of the Nursing College from December 22, selection of 50 students have been carried out.
Out of this 50 selected students, 16 are local candidates, four from RIMS and 30 other candidates from other States including Nagaland.
Meanwhile, RIMS authority has asked the selected nursing students to contact the Director of RIMS at 10 am tomorrow in connection with stitching of their respective uniforms.
