Imphal, January 11 2015:
Union Ministers would assess various development works and welfare schemes being executed in the North East States including Manipur by visiting the region every fortnight as per the instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said BJP Manipur Pradesh president Thounaojam Chaoba.
He was speaking at the reception function organised to welcome Jiribam Zilla Parishad Member Thoudam Ibomcha within the fold of BJP at their office today.
He said that his party leaders along with media persons had inspected the condition of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) on January 9 .
Saying that the condition of the highway is not satisfactory, Chaoba noted that around 2 km stretch from Makru bridge towards Imphal and another 6 kms from the bridge towards Jiribam are in deplorable condition.
He added that the BJP survey team also came across many portions on the highway which were not properly black-topped.
Chaoba added that he would visit New Delhi to apprise the matter to the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister and Minister of Road Transport soon.
The BJP president said that he would urge the Central leaders to instruct the BRO to complete construction of the highway before the onset of rainy season.
He said that Union Ministers would assess the development works and welfare schemes by visiting the North East States fortnightly.
Alleging that the State Government has misused the Central Government funds meant for the renovation of Khuman Lampak sports complex, Th Chaoba said that constructions of mini stadia in various districts are also yet to be completed.
Stating that the BJP-led NDA Government wants the North East States to be developed equally like other States, Th Chaoba said that Union Ministers would travel by road when they visit Manipur to experience the ground reality.
Regarding Th Ibomcha's joining to BJP, Th Chaoba said that the ZP Member personally approached the party some days back and his membership has been formally approved by the party president.
Th Chaoba said that there are still many political leaders who will join the party in coming days.
Speaking at the reception function, party spokesperson RK Shivachandra said that BJP Manipur unit submitted a detailed report on Loktak scam to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit on November 30 last year.
Nobody who was involved in the scam would be spared and BJP would not let not a single paisa of public money to go in waste, Shivachandra quoted the Prime Minister as saying during an election rally held at Langjing Achouba.
Shivachandra also expressed concern that dead bodies are to be brought to Imphal for post mortem examination as there is no morgue in Jiribam.
